Scouting America Hosts Family Field Day to Introduce Youth to Scouting Opportunities
In a proactive effort to engage families and introduce youth to the enriching world of Scouting, Scouting America is organizing a Field Day event set for Saturday, August 16, 2025. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to noon at Cerra Vista School Park, located at Avenida Cesar Chavez. This initiative is open to all boys and girls in grades K-12, providing a unique opportunity for families to explore the various programs offered by Scouting.
Field Day is designed as an engaging introduction to the multifaceted activities within the Scouting program. Attendees will experience firsthand the diverse range of outdoor and educational activities Scouting encompasses, including camping, hiking, aquatics, backpacking, climbing, and science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) initiatives. These activities not only promote physical fitness and outdoor skills but also foster essential life skills such as teamwork, confidence, resilience, and a commitment to community service in a safe and inclusive environment.
While young participants will have the chance to enjoy exciting outdoor games such as kickball, soccer, and a popular game called King’s Castle, parents will have the opportunity to engage with Scouting representatives from local units. These representatives will be available to answer questions, provide information about the registration process, and discuss how families can become involved in their local Scouting community.
Kristy Burchard, Chair of San Benito County Scouting, emphasizes the holistic benefits of participating in Scouting: “Scouting is more than just outdoor fun — it’s about building confidence, making friends, and growing into capable, compassionate leaders. This Field Day is the perfect way for families to explore what Scouting can offer.”
