In a commanding performance at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, the Pakistan cricket team secured a remarkable 90-run victory against Australia in the second T20 International, thereby clinching the three-match series with an unassailable 2-0 lead. This match not only showcased the prowess of the Pakistani players but also marked a significant milestone, representing the team’s first T20I series win over Australia since 2018.

Captain Salman Ali Agha played a pivotal role in the victory, scoring a personal best of 76 runs off just 40 balls. His outstanding innings was complemented by Usman Khan, who contributed a valuable 53 runs off 36 balls. Together, they led Pakistan to a formidable total of 198 runs for five wickets, achieving the highest T20I score ever recorded by the team against Australia.

The Pakistani spin attack was dominant, with all 10 Australian wickets falling to the spinners. Abrar Ahmed delivered the standout performance, claiming three wickets for just 14 runs, while Shadab Khan also took three wickets, conceding 26 runs. This strategic bowling display left Australia reeling, as they were bowled out for a mere 108 runs in just 15.4 overs.

Agha expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance, commending their batting, bowling, and fielding. His remarks reflected a confident outlook as the team heads towards the World Cup, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the same intensity and energy during upcoming matches.

Despite the return of skipper Mitchell Marsh, who had rested in the first match, the Australian side struggled to cope with the spin barrage. Marsh acknowledged the superior play of the Pakistani team, noting that they were placed under immense pressure throughout their innings.

This victory not only reinforces Pakistan’s status in international cricket but also sets a positive tone as they prepare for future competitions, including the World Cup scheduled to take place in India and Sri Lanka starting February 7.

The final match of the series will also be held in Lahore, where Pakistan will aim to complete a clean sweep against their formidable opponents. As the cricketing world closely watches, the potential for Pakistani players to shine on such a grand stage remains electrifying.
