Collaboration between Friends of the Children and Nulo to Support Youth and Their Pets

Nulo and Friends of the Children Launch “Paws-For-A-Cause” Initiative to Support Youth and Their Pets

In a notable collaboration aimed at promoting the well-being of both children and their pets, premium pet food manufacturer Nulo has launched an initiative titled “Paws-For-A-Cause” in partnership with Friends of the Children. This initiative is set to run from February 15 to March 31 and will feature a 10 percent donation from the sales of Nulo products purchased at participating pet retail locations in Oregon and Washington.

Friends of the Children, founded in 1993, has a longstanding commitment to providing support for at-risk youth through its unique mentorship program. The organization employs full-time professional mentors, referred to as “Friends,” who are dedicated to guiding their assigned youth for over 12 years without fail. With a mission rooted in fostering resilience and emotional health, Friends of the Children currently serves over 16,000 children and families across 42 locations nationwide.

Simone Biles, a celebrated gymnast and Nulo ambassador, is equally enthusiastic about the Paws-For-A-Cause initiative. Biles emphasizes the profound impact that the unconditional love of pets can have on a child’s development. “I know firsthand the impact that unconditional love and support can have on a child’s life,” Biles stated. She recognizes that for many of the youth served by Friends of the Children, pets serve as essential sources of companionship, comfort, and emotional support, particularly in challenging times. Through this collaboration, Biles hopes to enhance the care and nutrition that these pets receive, acknowledging the invaluable role they play in their families’ lives.

Terri Sorensen, National CEO of Friends of the Children, articulated her organization’s gratitude for Nulo’s commitment, noting, “Thanks to Nulo’s generous commitment, every pet food purchase becomes an opportunity to uplift a child and their pet.” This innovative fundraising approach not only bolsters the children’s access to quality pet nutrition but also reinforces the bond between them and their furry companions.

Nulo, which specializes in high-quality, protein-rich pet food products, aims to align its business practices with its foundational philosophy of prioritizing animal health and wellness. Michael Landa, Nulo’s founder and CEO, articulated the significance of pets in providing emotional support, especially for children at risk. He expressed pride in partnering with Friends of the Children to further their mission, stating, “Our pets play such a key part in our mental health and overall support system.”

In a unique twist on traditional charitable initiatives, Nulo plans to distribute donations via individual gift certificates, which will be given directly to children in the Friends of the Children program who have pets. These certificates can be redeemed for Nulo products and essential pet accessories at participating retailers. This approach not only ensures access to necessary resources but also fosters engagement and a deeper connection between the children and their mentors.

The Paws-For-A-Cause initiative exemplifies how corporate partnerships can positively impact communities, addressing both the nutritional needs of pets and the emotional health of children. As the campaign progresses, it holds the potential to further empower vulnerable youth while celebrating the unconditional companionship that pets provide.
